Possible error in the Cat-eLog?

Post by Mike_Noren »

To me it looks as if the images for shows two distinctly different species.

The two photos from Imazo show a fairly smooth-skinned, long-nosed fish which indeed looks like a Hisonotus.

The remaining photos show a fish with prominent rows of spikes along the sides, and a blunt nose. It is IMO more similar to than to Hisonotus (but it is probably not identical to Schizolecis guntheri; head shape and pigmentation is somewhat different).

On the other hand, the images are very small and it's hard to see much detail. So... what do you guys think?

(EDIT: To whichever mod did it: thanks for the edit. I tried to achieve this name-link effect, but couldn't remember how. :D )

I've got more pictures of this species now and have added them in online. I will have a closer look at these over the next couple of days (and also seek a few second opinions).

I've taken some advice on these from Dr. Stephan Hetz who bred LG2 and is familiar with many of the hypoptopomatatines - stuff has been moved around!
