New from the Netherlands

Post by Wolfje82 »

Hello, I'm Jessica and I'm living in Germany; Bunde but I was born in the Netherlands.
For the "Groningers" with us; Bunde is near the Dutch border: Nieuweschans.

Image
We are afraid that this is the L1 and it will grow out of it's tank.

Image
This one will be the Ancistrus sp. 3

Image
And this little one is also a Ancistrus sp.3 female?

What I really would like is a L46; a zebra like catfish.
Well maybe in the future.

Hi Jessica,

The first pic is gibbivceps indeed - growin to half a meter (I got one that size)

The second is a male, true, however, the last pic does look sopmewhat small to say "no mustache, thus female"

Anyway, welkom (from NL  )

not a gibby, Bas.

it's Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus, indeed L001.

there's a good way of keeping those apart: they have inverted pattern and colors!

the joselimaianus is a brown cat with orange spots; or an orange cat with a brown network (reticulated) overlaid.

the gibbiceps is an orange catfish with brown spots, or a brown catfish with orange network (reticulated) pattern overlaid.

as for zsize, habits and overall shape these 2 are very similar. yes, they get very big.

your third Ancistrus is still a juvenile. you can say it's a female if it's 2.5-3" (6-7,5cm) and still hasn't got any or very few nosehair. 8)

Hi Jessica & welcome to PC.
With regard to the L46: they can be found, but you'd better start saving some money  .

Welcome to Planet Catfish Jessica.

You are in good company as we have some very erudite contributors from the Netherlands.

I saw some cute L46 yesterday but as previously indicated they are expensive!(the ones yesterday were 1" max TL & £150)
