Bunocephalus coracoideus shedding regularly(with pics)

Post by bronzefry »

I've noticed the pair of Bunocephalus coracoideus (Banjos) are shedding on a regular basis. It's between 30-35 days. The skin comes off all at once:

If I touch it, it disintegrates.

They seem to go through a one week period prior to shedding where they are above the substrate more often than not: appx.75% of the time above, 25% below. The other weeks of the month, it's reversed. The night prior to shedding, they seem to lose their appetite. If this holds true to form, their appetite will be back tomorrow. The female was doing this a few nights back:

At the same time, the male was feeding upside-down, under a piece of driftwood on the other side of the tank:

Never a dull moment with a pair of fish that usually move slower than snails! :D
