Ants in my pump!!!!!

Post by grokefish »

I was looking for a spare pump the other day when I remembered that I had an old pond pump kicking around the garden somewhere.
Much hacking away at the jungle revealed this....

It was so cool.
Once I had opened it they started moving out into the hedgerow taking all their eggs with them (the eggchamber was in the impeller housing)I'm goona put it back next year and see if they do it again.

Fire Ants?

Fire Ants are notorious for getting attracted by electric fields....they do a lot of shortcutting and damage.

well, your location is bogus and that threw me off

now I remember it's UK or Dublin or whatever and the Fire ant is a neotropical species that's been introduced in the US
so it's not a Fire Ant.

but any reading on google about Fire ant would show you that they like electricity and in the first post you didn't say the pump was off.
