Can Anyone ID my lovely new Plec?

Post by indigoj »

Bought as 'Tiger Plec' don't think he is an L066 though. I am fairly certain he is an Hypancistrus of some type but what? Thanks. Oh, he is about 1-1.5 inches at the moment.

Small Hypancistrus like that can be very hard to tell apart - the colours and patterns change as they grow bigger - let it grow up a bit, and it will be easier to identify.

Like MatsP said, I also believe this fish is still too young to identify accurately. Many juvenile Hypancistrus resemble this fish when young.

Hi, thanks for the advice, I'll update with new pics in a couple of months.

I have bought the other 'tiger plec' the LFS had too so hopefully they will get on well. The newer one is plumper but both are eating so fingers crossed!
