L46 and L34 (or L255)

Post by C-Magnier »

Hi,

Do you think it's possible too keep theses to fishes in the same tank?
I know that L34 is a very shy fish, it's difficult to feed it, etc...
I also have a group of L46 (6, about 3 years), I would like to keep or ... They seem to come from the same type of water (I dont say the same place, Rio Xingu is so large....)

Is there sombody here who's housing L34 and L46 together?
What are your experiences with L34 (or L255)?

Thank's a lot!

From what I've heard A. ranunculus can be quite boisterous & aggressive towards tankmates. Personaly I wouldn't test these traits with H. zebra.

With their current rarity in the hobby, tendency to not thrive in competitive situations for food, and over all worth at the moment, I would have to recommend the zebras be given a tank of their own. You could maybe create a divider system for an aquarium so they were both in the same water, but I would definitely not expect the zebras to fare well loose in the same area with the Ancistrus.

Ranunculus group ancistrus are in fact quite easygoing if not outright shy. I kept mine with zebras for almost a year and a half without incident. I would consider the hypancistrus to be far hardier and a much more aggressive feeder.

I think that might be an interesting combination.
