Newbie returning to the freshwater scene

Post by Dante_JoseCuervo »

Hey guys, I'm a college student who's finally getting back into the freshwater aqua scene. I'm really trying to convince my RA to let me put a small 20 long tank in my room and have some simple fish, hopefully some nice little plecos and cats, but I want some rummynose tetras in there too. Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone knows any breeders in the Chicagoland area who specialize in zebra plecos. I tried registering to the zebrapleco site but that was two days ago and I still haven't receive my activation code so I figured I'd come here.

Anyways, would a 20 gallon be ok for a pair of zebras? I'm thinking about breeding them to help out. I don't think they should be terribly hard to care for as I used to have one about 10 years ago that lived for quite a bit of time. I've been doing saltwater for a while now so I can handle fish with specialized diets and whatnot.

Anyways, what would be some good tankmates and what are some other plecos or small cats I can work with? Corys perhaps?
