I was looking for opinions from anyone who has been to Uruguay...when is a good time of year...which area would be more desireable/enjoyable to go to
I have to make a decision soon and I am sure either one would be great
There is a choice of two different trips and both are tailored for exploring and collecting
The first is in November and will feature the center and east coast of Uruguay
The second late February/early March as to the west side of Uruguay and the Rio Uruguay.
They will be run through this contact http://cichlaholic.com/

Re: -Uruguay decision-opinions needed
I've been in Uruguay twice, both in January - 2006 and 2007.
I understand that your contact goes with Felipe Cantera, who also arranges export permits. He was myu host twice - so from me returning to him, you may draw your conclusions
I can't tell you, for lack of personal experiences, which time is the better - november or february. However, do realize the local fish will start breeding in spring, perhaps early in spring, but in November the fry will be very small, if any, and in March the young fishes are much larger.
Alle Uruguay is worth a visit, I'd like to go again.
Summary: do go, once or more

in fact, I was not really in the far west - or the far east.
I visited Canelones, Treinta y Tres, Artigas, the town of Salto, and more in the center of Uruguay
