My friend inherited these fish and doestn know what they are... any suggestions?

sorry about the pics - I need a new camera, quick easy foolproof cameras dont take very good close up photos of little fishes

The other one is no catfish... I don't remember the english name for that one... probably stonesucker ore something like that!

Both are quite good alge eater.

I will try and get a better pic of them - but I dont supose you can tell if it is a boy or a girl?

The Ancistrus looks a bit like a female to me. I don't know about the other one.

The other one is the golden form of the Chinese Algae Eater, Gyrinocheilus aymonieri - as had been said, this isn't a catfish.

The Ancistrus is a great community fish, the other is not especially once they mature (you've got a young one).

Right. It will become aggressive and territorial, and won't eat much algae either.
