My Aquaria - Feeding

Post by Martin S »

I've managed to add a duplicate entry, and can't remove it - can this be done please?
Also, there are some odd entries, i.e. if you chose Live, you only get the option to 'Enter Another' in the next list.
If you choose Prepared, the second option in the list is 'Enter Food Type', which still only gives you the frequency choices.
One related question - where would you expect to see cucumber etc - prepared?
Thanks
Martin

I need to do a lot of work on the feeding thing because I've obviously made it too hard to use. It's based on similar functionality (but not to do with fish food!) in facebook. However, this will take several hours to resolve and I might end up redesigning it so that folks can't add new things willy nilly.

Bear with me!

Cheers,

OK, as i said, it was really questions on how you'd expect it to be used, but that's fine - will leave it alone until it's more how you wanted it.
As always, if i can help in any way with the coding, just shout.

OK, you can now delete foods you've added.

Martin - coding wise - I'd love some help but how much time can you give? What might otherwise be useful is to go through outstanding bugs and retest / remove duplicates / follow up and priorities for me or the data team to fix?

Cool - removed my duplicate and it worked perfectly :-BD
How much time do you need? I can give a bit of time (an hour or so) most days, but there will be lots of learning in with that too, as haven't looked at this since the auto-complete stuff.

Martin,

That would indeed help. What do you fancy, a coding project or working with the bugs forum (which might naturally lead to bits and bobs of fixing).

I'd like to say coding project, but think, like you say, working through the bugs will ultimately lead to small bits to work on to get me more familiar with the code.

Yeah, plus a coding project, right now, would be a bit tricky as I would have to find the time to set-up. The two that come quickly to mind would bean admin feature to edit the foods and feeding tables to remove duplicates programatically and an XML parser to go find a species on fishbase, identify its common names and synonyms and package them into a data submission automatically. Both could be done standalone and then integrated I think?

Ok, though they both sound like coding projects to me :)). Shall we take this offline and discuss further?

I'm happy this is one can be moved to the 'done' pile.
