For sale and wanted
I think maybe it would be better if these were 2 separate forums.

What's the thought process behind this suggestion?

Re: For sale and wanted
I presume the thought is that it's easier to find someone who is wanting to sell X if you have all the for sale in one forum, and to find a "wanted" if all the "I would like" in another forum.
I personally do not see a need for change, but I can see the point of Matt's post.

Re: For sale and wanted
Well to be honest I use a lot of different forums, and many of them are set up like this.
If for instance you are looking to buy a fish and there may be one for sale and then many wanteds, and also the opposite.
I use these other forums to buy and sell many things from my wide range of hobbies and interests and have found the best to be arranged as such.
I'm not suggesting this because I want to be a power seller on PC, it's just a bit frustrateing.
Have you been looking for random catfish on Aquarists classifieds since they took away the catfish catagory?
It's balls.
We shouldn't underestimate the number of people that just brows through these things on the offchance there is something they would want, and the beauty of this site is they can find all the info they need nearby.
Also with the wanteds all jumbled up with the for sales I don't think people are getting a good response for wanted cats unless they keep bumping the topic through the forsale stuff.
For instance I have a lot of really quite rare catfish that people could be looking for for ages.
They may put a wanted ad up and 2 days later it's off the screen, due to all the for sale fish.
Now I am in no hurry to sell my fish, so I cant be bothered to search through pages of all the wanted AND for sale posts to see if anyone wants my really rareicus neverseenimus catfish fish. However if it was there on the first or second page plain as day in a wanted section I might think "Oh, I got one of those" and contact them.
I always find it a shame when these hard to find catfish end up back at the LFS, in the lottery that someone that knows what they are doing buys them, which is what regularly happens, when there may be someone out there that is much more suited to having the fish, just for the need for more clarity.
Basically what I am saying is that because there are two categories in one the posts are leaving the first/second screen twice as quickly as if they would if they were separated, now this isn't a problem to someone like Mats, a clearly patient and thoughtfull person that would spend the time searching, but not everyone is like that.

Re: For sale and wanted
I get your drift. Might be time for a couple of sub forums. Anyone volunteer for moving 'em?grokefish wrote:Also with the wanteds all jumbled up with the for sales I don't think people are getting a good response for wanted cats unless they keep bumping the topic through the forsale stuff.

Re: For sale and wanted
I've now done this via two new sub forums. The old parent forum is locked, so folks have to put their posts in one of the new sub forums.
MODERATORS: You can help by taking two or three posts each time you log in and move them to the appropriate sub forum. You may delete any that do no say for sale, wanted or country/location in the title. We can then move everything into new place in a few days or weeks.
