Amano shrimp with C. trilineatus

Hi all,

I have a 55-gallon tank that's been running for a few months now. It's moderately well planted and is home to 25 C. trilineatus. There are no other fish in the tank for the time being; the cories are entertaining enough. I was thinking about adding some Amano shrimp, though. Would these guys get along? I don't want to do anything that might stress the cories out.

(I also might try a few Amanos in a tank I have with a few L174 plecos -- I know this is the wrong forum, but if anybody has any thoughts on how the Amanos might act with the L174s, I'd welcome your thoughts on that, as well.)

I keep these two together, no problem at all. They mostly hang out in different areas and the amanos are bold enough to sneak down and grab a shrimp pellet from the cory feeding area. The only time things get freaky is when the amanos are doing the breeding dance where the males run in circles around the perimetre of the tank and sometimes bang into other fish, the fish still ignore them

I keep Cherry Shrimp in all my aquariums, including my Peckoltia and Hypancistrus breeding tanks. They have spread throughout all my tanks except those containing predators like my Peruvian Scalares. I find shrimp and non-predatory catfish to be a good combination. Most especially in the pleco breeding tanks because they are great helpers when it comes to cleaning up the small bits of food the plecos miss. I must have 300 plus in the 29H I keep my 6 L260 in. They add some visible signs of life in pleco tanks since these catfish spend most of the time inside caves.

I only have a pair of Amano shrimp that somehow have lasted several years through many moves between several tanks. They presently live in my L134 breeding tank along with many Cherry Shrimp.

In your specific case, I would think you could keep about 20-25 Amano Shrimp with your group of Corydoras without any problems. I would be sure to provide some plants like Ceratophyllum (Hornwort) growing under most of the surface and some Java Moss attached to wood for the shrimp to have many places to pick through for food. I have hundreds of Cherry Shrimp in each of my tanks containing Corydoras hastatus, Corydoras habrosus and Aspidoras pauciradiatus.
