Trilineatus is sold as Julii all over the place & is extremely variable - i agree with Mats

to my knowledge this is at least doubtful.
In 2007 there were more than 35.000 exported C. julii from the state of Para (Bresil) according to the statistics of the IBAMA. I think from that origin this cannot be C. trilineatus, it might be still some other species. But for any C number this is IMHO a too high number. At least I don't know any species that would be imported in sufficient numbers.

The colouration and shape of the two species is very similar. As far as I know C. trilineatus tends to have more vermicular markings and a clearer stripe at the rear part of the body. C. julii seems to have a bit rounder snout. But the external appearance of the two species overlap. Without catching location this is not much more than a good guess...
However, I also think your picture shows C. trilineatus.

Genuine Julii do appear from time to time but they are really quite rare, if they were more available there surely would be more pics in cat-e-log. (?) 35,000 doesn't seem a large amount in worldwide distribution terms. I was thinking more of exporting from the upper parnaiba system rather than the rio para. 99.9% of fish labelled julii i've seen were trilineatus here in the uk & i believe this to be the case wider afield. Trilineatus is extremely variable, some specimens showing virtually no vermiculations.

If Ian chips in he'll doubtless give the more exacting info but capture location would be ideal. Do we know if it's a w/c or t/b fish?

Your Corys are C. trilineatus.
I can't speak to the availability of true Corydoras julii elsewhere but there is at least one on line dealer in the States who regularly lists true Corydoras julii. So someone is collecting and exporting them.
Many C. trlineatus sold in the US are now farm raised fish.

There may be "on-line" dealers stating that they have "true" C. julii, but I have yet to have one supply me with a picture of one and the few that will send a pic, invariably are touting C. trilineatus or C. acrensis as C. julii. I've been looking for C. julii for a decade and have not seen one, yet, regardless of what people say they have.
