Columbian Spotted Pleco

Post by alymiller55 »

Hi! I just bought a Columbian Spotted Pleco and I can't seem to find any info on it. Can anyone tell me if it goes by other names? I would actually appreciate any info on it, particularly how big it is going to get. Thanks.

PS Why does everyone spell Colombia wrong? Not to pick on you Aly, it is also spelled incorrectly throughout the Aqualog book (which was noted by all Colombian pleco people).

I bought the same thing several years ago before I even knew about L-numbers. Mine turned out to be a gibbiceps.

Actually it was wrongly spelt across all of Planet Catfish until 2001 when Shane pointed it out to me.

Hi! Thanks for the replies. Sorry about the spelling of Colombian. I don't know how to post a picture, but the fish is a cream color with medium-brown spots all over its body. The spots are packed fairly close together and right now the fish is only about 2 inches long, however I'm sure it is just a baby because when I got it a month ago it was only 1 inch. I just looked up the gibbiceps and I think that is probably what it is it looks just like it. Thanks for the info.

Why I bought the fish I don't know anything about.

Post by alymiller55 »

I bought the fish even though I don't know anything about it, because I liked the way it looked and I figured I could learn about it by looking it up on Planet Catfish.
