Banjo catfish
Hello all,
I was reading some stuff and i came across whit a question, banjo catfish have a "big mouth", do they suck in our fry or chrimps like red cherry?
or they can be trusted?
i look for the anwer and i didn´t get anything else then "they are unproblematic" (thing that didn´t help at all).
from the looks of the fish i can gess that he eats the small fry that pass by, but to be sure i thot in doing this post, can someone help here?

Re: Banjo catfish
They aren't really predatory by nature (and they aren't very fast). It can't be ruled out altogether, but I think it's unlikely.

Yes, they are sort of ambush predators, not hunting/chasing predators. They will eat small creatures that get close, for sure.

Re: Banjo catfish
Despite the Banjo Cats potential ability to eat shrimp, I would trust them in a tank with a shrimp colony. They do not actively hunt animals like Cherry shrimp and if they managed to eat a few I doubt that it would be noticed. Cherry Shrimp are so prolific that they would easily keep ahead of an occasional loss.
