Is Cetopsis coecutiens valid name?

Post by Mika »

Wels Atlas 1 text says that the species status of formely know Cetopsis coecutiens is questionable. In that book Cetopsidae that has arrived aquarium markets in Europe are shown but C. coecutiens name is nowhere to be found. They have pictures of fish but labelled as Cetopsis sp.Is there something going on with Cetopsidae?

As far as the most recent literature and CLOFFSCA is concerned, C. coecutiens is still a valid species. Carl Ferraris, Richard Vari and Mario de Pinna are revising the Cetopsidae, so we shall see what becomes of cetopsid taxonomy.
