Will clown loaches eat leetches?

Post by INXS »

I have a small tank with guppy for feeders to which I fed some food which had a leetch or two in it - it isn't infested but they are present.
I was wondering if clown loaches would eat them since they eat snails?
Is there any other fish that might do this?

Or if a natural way isn't possible , what is the best way to deal with it(getting rid of leetches - salt? bleach?)
Thanks

Nope they don't. The best way to get rid of leeches is to use a weak salt bath.

Thanks for the reply, how does one administer such a saltbath?

I was thinking of adding salt as guppies can take a good amount of salt, but how much do I need to add to get rid of the leetches and for how long?

BTW do leetches have any natural predators?
Thanks

Three-quarters of a teaspoon per gallon should do it. The leeches would probably shrivel up and die within a day.

And then start with water changes to remove the dead.
