Import / Export Ban List
Can anyone point me at the import / export ban list for hypancistrus as I was going to order some tank bred pleco's from a breeder but noticed they have wild caught pleco's on their website and I wanted to check the ban list first as I am reluctant to order from someone that may be flouting the import / export ban.

Re: Import / Export Ban List
Just about all Hypancistrus from Brazil are currently banned. Hypancistrus from Venezuela/Colombia are allowed to be exported.
So put another way:
Hypancistrus from the Amazon basin are banned: List of Hypancistrus from Amazon.
Hypancistrus from the Orinoco basin are not banned:
List of Orinoco species
There are about 8 or 9 (sorry, I haven't counted exactly) species missing in that list - because they don't have any location in the Cat-eLog occurrence database - but most of those would fall under Amazon basin, rather than Orinoco basin. L201, I believe is missing from the list and would be from Orinoco.

Re: Import / Export Ban List
Thanks, the one the dealer is advertising "wild caught" is one from the Orinoco basin, thanks for your help and I trust you understand why I was checking up.

I'm indeed very happy that you check these things up - and I'm happy that I'm able to help.
