Logging onto site in a thread brings you back to home page

This is new, well not new, I have been noticing it for about a mos.

when I am in a topic/thread and log in to respond it brings me back to the main page. not the most recent posts one but the whole main page that shows every section and catagory of the site.

is this a on purpose thing?

AFAIK, it's meant to take you back to the index. I've not really ever noticed this as I use the check box to keep me logged in. However, there appears to be a mod (note to self: http://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/p ... in_return/) to do this. I'd need to take the forum offline for a wee while to apply, so will likely do (I need to see how hard it is - doesn't look that tricky), but not "as soon as".

oh ok,, normally before, when you're in a thread and hit reply and the log on form comes on and then you log in and ure next screen is in the add reply post itself. now it flips you back to home page or index.

What Jools is saying is that he will fix it in due time. And that the "take you back to index" is how it's meant to work with the standard PHPbb software [that Planet Catfish Forum uses!] that we're using, but that there is a "fix" available to "remember where you came from and take you back when you log in".

I didn't apply the mod as I think this should have been dealt with in a patch upgrade release. It would be good if the OP could confirm if it's still and issue. Or someone'll try and see - I am not sure of the exact sequence of events to get it to not work.

I tried the following:

Log out (as I stay logged in);
Read a post;
Hit Reply;
Log in as required;
I get redirected back to the reply as expected.

I'm guessing this probably isn't the chain of events though...

This was happening for years with me but it seems to be mended now.

Although it did not take me to the home page it took me to the big forum page.
