Re: Dealing with copyright violations
If it's on a website, perhaps you can contact the webmaster of that site. If it's in a book or magazine, and there isn't a name of the photographer next to the photo, then there is usually a list of illustrations and photographers names in the back or front of the book.
If it's a photo on this website, we should be able to find the photographer's name and e-mail address from our picture database.

Its a picture of a Pterygoplichthys Joselimaianus taken by an Ian Pardoe. I have one in my own tank but unfortunately I take shoddy pictures, and it is very shy so if i could use his it would be great. I dont mind watermarking and I ertainly dont mind the reference to planet catfish. Every catfish owner ought to know this website:)

Re: Dealing with copyright violations
I'm unable to find the e-mail address, but if you try sending a PM to user "PaddyP" - that's Ian Pardoe's username on the forum. If that doesn't work, you may want to contact Jools [webmaster at planetcatfish dot com] to see if he can dig out the e-mail address for you.
Edit: I split this thread into it's own thread, as it's not really related to the original thread.

Could I just point out that, legally, we can't hand out email addresses if they are not already shown. Where a contributor name isn't linked to a forum account we, legally, cannot hand out that forum username.

Good point. But I presume a friendly e-mail to you may result in you forwarding the e-mail address of the requester to the person who took the photo?

Not usually. We're not image brokers and actually I often don't have the email address as, again legally, the less I store, the less I am responsible for. But it is case by case.MatsP wrote:Good point. But I presume a friendly e-mail to you may result in you forwarding the e-mail address of the requester to the person who took the photo?
