Cichlidae???
Hi all,
For interest - Why is Cichlidae now in the Cat-eLog? I made light of this in Speak Easy a few moments ago, but now ask here in that it appears kind of a strange happening.

Re: Cichlidae???
I have no idea why C****dae would be in the Cat-eLog. Certainly none of my doing...

Re: Cichlidae???
Hi Mats,
A little follow up. Since I last posted, the list of genera under the title Cichlidae (in Cat-eLog) has grown quite a bit. So it appears that someone is actively working on it.

Re: Cichlidae???
Well, must be Jools doing that. You can't add a new family through the management pages I have access to.
I'm sure all will be revealed sooner or later.

Re: Cichlidae???
Nothing quite so exciting, the database is widening beyond catfishes and into other orders. Some West African cichlids and Pantodon. If any of these fish "leak" into the catelog, then please let me know where, it's a bug, it should all be tied down to just catfishes (at least in terms of links).lfinley58 wrote:Thanks for the follow up. PlanetCatfish is the admin hub for this data, but it is farmed out to other databases/sites for their use. That's to say, beyond the admin functions and some periodic replication, there isn't any additional overhead on the database.
Can you tell me where you found it? I'm aware some catelog updates from earlier today were not limited by order.

Re: Cichlidae???
If you use the Cat-eLog "Know your nomenclature? Use the quick picker:", it shows Cichlidae there.
So, I take it you don't want me to upload my nice Satanoperca leucosticta after adding that species... ;)

Re: Cichlidae???

Feel free to add the species and indeed the picture if you're very sure of the ID. Meantime, I will remove that reference. There are bound to be some I've missed, it's the all important "order='1'" in the where clause!
Cheers,
Jools

Re: Cichlidae???
I knew that would throw up another "feature". I still have 4 images according to the side-bar. But when you click the images link, my Satanoperca images show up!

Re: Cichlidae???
What I should also add (Graham R) is that any registered keeper info on non-catfishes will, very likely, get deleted...

Hi Jools,
I had just stopped by PC and noticed the cichlid names in the right hand column (updates). I posted a little light Speak Easy piece regarding it and when I went back to Home the "cichlids" were gone. I looked into the Cat-eLog and came across Cichlidae in the proper alphabetical spot and then posted a noted to Suggestions and Bugs. One later check in the Cat-eLog showed that the list was growing. I made another note in S&B and that was that until now. Glad to hear that it wasn't an intrusion problem.

Re: Cichlidae???
Thanks Lee, I spotted the updates "leak" myself and plugged that as soon as I saw it. Mats has pointed out a leak in the cat-elog "quick picker".
I find myself that there is a "leak" in the quick find that I will fix soon too.
In essence if you, or anyone else, find any links to any non catfish stuff, please let me know. Ta!
"Your" cichlid will be appearing with pics and info in the related project soon!
