Anadoras species. YUM!!!

Post by wrasse »

These are my most recent aquisition. They come from a remote river in Peru. Bought as Anadoras Species, they maybe A. Grypus, or something new...

In the flesh they are stunning fish with a high contrast pattern, 10-12cm TL, although I think it will be another 2-3 weeks before they are conditioned and at their best. Trouble is although they are doras, they move like pictus! So here's a couple of pics, but nothing close-up yet. Its not easy to see, but the dark patches are edged with white b-)

Hope you like... :d

A great find. I've only ever seen one A Grypus before which was a contaminant in a batch of Agamyxis (well it arrived at the lfs with them). Not bad for £2.50 back in the day!

I look forward to seeing these after they've settled a little more :d

I have 4 Bas. At the time of purchase I took a look at the vents and with a bit of luck and judgement, I have 2 pairs.

Nice! And the mouth is certainly bigger than I had expected.

Here's 3 shots I took yesterday, just wanting to show their pattern and colour. I don't feed any colour-enhancing foods...

This is what they like doing sometimes (-:

This shot, without flash, shows how they are turning quite golden underneath.

Again, but with flash.

Why thank you Mr Sojapat. At the time of buying you did say where they came from... but I can't remember. It was from further down the river, a remote area. Hard to believe its nearly a year since... time flies!
I'm feeding plenty of vegetable matter to these guys, mainly spinach and peas, so I guess that helps with the colour, as well as being older fish.
