Corydoras cf.julii "Belem"

Post by HaakonH »

I received this with the label written in the heading. Is it the real C.julii?

With my limited cory ID'ing skills I would say no.

Looks more like trilineatus.

However If you know that your so called C. julii have been shipped out of Belem or Rio de Janeiro there is a good chance that the ID will be good.
Maybe Ian will chime in.

Thanks all, I must admit I'm pretty sure they are C.julii myself. The supplier I got them from can usually be trusted, and wouldn't label them with "Belem" if they were from Peru or elsewhere. My reason for asking is that I'm just not completely updated with what similar species are out there from nearby areas, if any at all :)

Where is your supplier based Peru or Brazil? I ask this because there is an area of Iquitos, Peru called Belem, where there are several fish collectors.

Ian,
I was not aware of that, thank you. My supplier is not in South America, but I know that they do have a supplier in Belem, Brazil, as well as suppliers in Peru. I will ask them tomorrow about where these came from.
