Shrimp mix

Post by Svante »

Come to think of it ... I have never heard anyone in this forum even mention shrimp mix as a good food source for catfishes. But maybe it is not so commonly used in the other side of the atlantic (America that meens, since i live in europe)?

For those of you who might not have heard of it I'll describe it shortly:

Take equal parts of shrimp and vegetables (preferably peas, but otherwise spinache or brusselsprout) mix it GOOD, and leave the shell of the shrimp on, it will add good colour to your fish. Add some spirulina if you wish, and then use agar-agar or gelatine to make it jelly like. Good for all sorts of fishes, but maybe it should contain more vegetables when you give it to catfish?
Ehmmmm ....

Further details of this food mix and preparation method can be found in the really great book 'Enjoying Cichlids' edited by Ad Konings, publshed by Cichlid Press. Don't confuse it with the TFH book 'Enjoying Cichlids', that's a stinker.

Here we have dried shrimps but they often have that sharp tip mouth which is quite a hazard. So we go for the easier one which is the market prawns.
