Questions on setting up and filling a 40g tank
Hi,
I am upgrading my 60l tank to a 40g tank. The inhabitants of the 60l tank will be moved into the 40g tank. The inhabitants are:
1 Platydoras costatus15cm
1 L200 12cm
1 Panaquollus maccus 7cm
I would like to ask you some questions:
What should be the color of the sand?
If i take a little of my 55g tank's biological material, when should i add the first fish?
Will 1Agamyxis pectinifrons coexist peacefully with my Platydoras or not?
Will Cleithracara maroni or Krobia itanyi coexist peacefully with my other fishes?
Thank you in advance

Whatever you like as long as it's inert. Most sand we get here in the UK is fairly pale, but the fish don;t seem to care much as long as they have their needs catered for.Kostas wrote: What should be the color of the sand?
Using as much water out of the mature aquaria as possible and a good proportion of mature filter material I would be happy to do it within two days, maybe even next day (but then I would monitor conditions very carefully). Even decor from a mature aquarium will provide good quantities of the required bacteria.Kostas wrote:If i take a little of my 55g tank's biological material, when should i add the first fish?

I've never had any problem with combing these two species as long as they both have ample refuges. Why not have a small group of either species though instead of one of each?
Yes, and either would be a great choice, although my favourite would be a group of wild C. maronii. If wild fish are not available go for the Krobia, the farm-reared Keyholes tend to be awful. If you PM me I will suggest a range of Cichlid information resources.Kostas wrote:Will Cleithracara maroni or Krobia itanyi coexist peacefully with my other fishes?

Agamyxis and Platydoras can run in trouble when combined.
Ask Pectorale.
His biggest Agamyxis was literally spiked to death by one of the Platydoras. Those are much more territorial, Agamyxis is very peaceful.
We're talking a 400 liter tank here, that's over 100G!

Plan B should not automatically be twice as much explosives as Plan A

Can i add another L200 in the tank? How many Platydoras can i keep together in that tank without having problems?
Is there any wood eating pleco which is suitable for my tank?
Btw:I finaly found fine sand.Its EUROPET's sand.
