What kind of catfish is this please?

Post by fourdub »

You can go directly to the gallery with the link below. I got this cat fish from petsmart when it was small. It's getting huge now, and I have no clue what type of catfish it is. It was just labeled "catfish". It's hard getting a photo of him cause he has a bigger cave to dwell in now and he perfers to come out at night or when I'm not around. This guy shelled a crayfish that was in my tank. Real easy to catch him in a net cause he swims right into it thinking its another good place to hide. Right now he's in a 55g but I'll be upgrading to 100 or above a.s.a.p. Thanks

Rhamdia quelen, or R. laticauda. It's a bit difficult to tell.

Thanks! that helped alot. The pictures from that other post looks exactly like the one I have. It's hard for me to photograph it because he rarely comes out of his cave. You wouldnt even know he was in there unless you caught a glimpse of him scaveging.
