How do you (personally) pronounce pleco? Do you pronounce the e as if you're saying echo or ape? So really, pleh-co or plec-oh?

I've heard it both ways.

Since it is short for plecostomus, this might be your answer!

Some more trivia ...

British people, at least before the popularity of the Internet, just call them plecs (pronounced "plex").
