What to feed synodontis polli white babyes ?

Post by henlar »

Hey.
I live in Denmark, and have 10 big Synodontis Polli ''White''.
They give a lot of eggs, and the young is doing fine until they are about 1 cm.
Then they start to die one by one :((
I have tryed feeding them with allmost anything, but they die anyway.
My water is fine, and temperature is about 25 celcius.
Anyone have an idea what im doing wrong, or mabye what to feed baby's of synodontis polli ''white'' ?
I'm about to go crasy over ther are so hard to grow up.
Any help ^:)^

Have a nice day ;-)

I've never raised polli white. However, I have raised grandiops & lucipinnis. By the time both of those are 1 cm long, however, I've never had any issue raising them to adulthood. When they are smaller I feed the lucippinis microworms & then graduate them to crushed Hikari carnivore tabs.

I have never fed fry any kind of vegetable based foods. However, my adult grandiops & granulosus really like broccoli :d .

Hi.

And do you have a good cirkulation, or just a little pump ?
I have read, that some people's synodontis die, if they have to little cirkulation in the water :-\

Many times when this sort of thing happens it is due to overcrowding as they get bigger, try splitting them up between more tanks as they get near this size.I do not think it is a food issue but crowding or water quality.

About veggies and syno's, many will take veggies as they grow older...this is key. Tanganyika syno's are probably the least likely to need veggies in their diet at a young age IMO.

These are pretty unfussy feeders & young should eat just about anything. Standard commercial foods would be fine. They are particularly fond of 'prawn paste'. Buy a packet of fresh cooked shell-on prawns then blend the lot into a paste (you could add spirulina powder). I then put this into ice cube trays & top off with a little water & freeze them.

Just out of interest, how big is the biggest adult?
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!
