Giant Catfish critically endangered

This is very bad news. The sad thing is that such things happen all the time, when there are too many people around... So few humans understand, or have the proper amount of knowledge to avoid such disasters. And many people, even if understanding, or having knowledge, would easily forget this, if they had the chance of earning some money...
When the free market roams, and money is king, we will loose species all the time. We need international regulations, and effective laws, internationally respected and followed.

Like the CITES, the Washington Convention: "Convention In Trade of Endangered Species", it doesnt help much to restrict trade or sale of threatened species, when you can destroy the habitat without doing anything "illegal".

In the US, some dams (a few at least) are beeing brought down, to open up old breeding grounds for migrating species. We need international cooperation and will to solve this, and to be effective, there has to be some form of possible sanctions as well. Because power rules...

Nothing is more convincing than a smile, AND a gun...
