31: Broken AquaticRepublic and Fishbase links on CLOGs

Hi Jools,

I noticed that if you click on the AquaticRepublic and Fishbase search links at the bottom of CLOGs pages, you get broken links. I tried this from several different species' CLOGs, all with the same effect.

Fishbase links appear to work (note that it's not our fault that Fishbase sometimes messes up the page-request and posts a bunch of code instead of a page that looks good - complain to Fishbase on that one). AquaticRepublic links are broken on the page that it lands on - I think one of my recent fixes will fix this, but I just ran into a different problem, so maybe not...

Will have a look tonight, after water changes.

So, Mats is having a look at the AR links.

I will look into the fishbase thing as I think we may be linked to the wrong mirror site.

I know you're not complaining, and that you're helpfully taking the time to point out broken stuff - which is great as a fresh pair of eyes is finding not only the things broken by the 3.1 upgrade but also stuff that's been broken for far longer.

Update. I've revert this site to hitting fishbase.org rather than what were the more robust of their mirror sites. Is there a specific species link you can now try that fails? Let me know or otherwise I will await Mats' fix and move to resolved.

Indeed, I am not complaining at all; of course, on the user end, it's not obvious to me when a broken link is an upgrade effect or merely something that just wasn't working right to begin with. I know I've posted a lot of bugs to the forum in the aftermath of the upgrade, but believe me when I say I'm only trying to be helpful. I'm not trying to "make work" for you two.

Although I don't know Mats or you personally, I can tell from the posts and activity on this site that you two (and anyone else behind the scenes that I might not know about) are going above and beyond expectation to create such an informative and useful website, and also an environment in which a community of fish hobbyists can flourish. Keep up the good work.

I admire the "product" (if you can call this website and community a product) that you are able to create and maintain. Although I'm not laying on the couch with spare time on my hands, I wish there was more I could do to help -- e.g., if I understood this coding stuff, I would love to dive in and lend a hand on repairs/upgrades when I find them. Alas, I know how to program in only one computer language, and it's not phpBB.

No. When I originally posted this thread, it was because I was viewing the current CotM (see photo above) and found the broken links there. After that, I just randomly tried a few more spp., all with the same problem.

Just now, I tried a few spp. randomly (alas, I don't recall which spp. I used the first time, besides the CotM), and all the links today went to Fishbase just fine.

I can link to AR locally on my test-setup (actually, I can't because it links to public AR, but if I edit the link so that it points to my local AR, then the page displays eventually - I think there's a problem loading pictures on my local AR, but that is a different problem).

The AR production server has the latest revision online from the AR repository. Bear in mind however that all common/* files are not in that. Whatever is live at Planet at 0118 Pacific time is copied from Planet to AR daily.
