Is there a short summary someplace of the process used to determine and name a new species? Many fish fans would be interested in knowing how it works and why it takes so long. With all the new species being found around the planet, will the taxonomists ever catch up?

Merry Christmas everyone!

A more fish-centric example: http://www.wettropics.gov.au/site/user- ... Fishes.pdf

There's always Judith Winston's book on describing a new species, if you want more in-depth reading: http://antbase.org/ants/publications/21 ... 2_text.pdf
