Permission to use a photo from this website

Post by alison »

Good morning,
I work at a brand new science center in Pullman, Washington and recently we were given an electric catfish. Needless to say, we're pretty excited about 'Edgar' and plan to do some advertizing about this one-of-a-kind exhibit here in Pullman. However, I'm working on the signage and we'd like to include a photo we found on the planetcatfish website. If the photographer is out there it says: "Gmelin, 1789" and photo credit goes to Dinyar Lalkaka. If you are out there, may we use your wonderful photo on our sign - it looks just like our electric catfish! Thanks. Alison

Yes, you may use it as long as the photo is cited as ours (I'm his son). Would love to see a pic of the exhibit when it's done!

P.S. BTW, the "Gmelin, 1789" refers to who described the fish, not us.

Thank you so much - this is great! We are waiting for the local University to help us pay for a beautiful new aquarium, so, when that's happened, we'll get the signs made with your father's name as the photographer and try and get a photo to you of the whole exhibit. Thanks again. Alison

If you post where the exhibit is when it's done, I could probably come and get a picture or two. Pullman is easily within driving distance for me :)

Thanks Barbie - we have Edgar displayed behind a glass window at the moment so no child is tempted to put any fingers in the water. However, if the University comes through we should be able to move him out on to the exhibit floor...fingers crossed. Meanwhile, if you are in the Pullman area, coming from Colfax turn north ( left ) on Grand Avenue (Hwy 27) and continue for one mile then right on Terre View and an immediate left on Hopkins Court....then find our sign.
