Corydora spilurus
Hi,
im my opinion the pictures in your DB don't show C. spilurus.
If you compare pictures of the lectotype you will see that C. spilurus is a Corydoras sensu stricto; as far as I can see from your pictures they show a Corydoras from lineage 8 (as per Alexandrou et al.).
This one would deserve a CW number as to my knowledge it doesn't have any scientific name, C or CW code number.
As far as I know these ones come from the same region as the real C. spilurus.
Cheers,

Re: Corydora spilurus
Hi,
additionally to the probably wrong pictures the distribution is for sure wrong.
This species can certainly not be found in (upper) Amazone, Marañón, & Ucayali.
The given temperature range is also a bit low, it would surprise me to find them in such cool water, they can be found in the main river (Approuague) which is rather 28-30 °C.

Hi Karsten,
I've quickly fixed the distribution. Do you have the Norman 1926 paper? I'd just like to check it out before I change things. If I recall correctly this was a fish imported 10-15 years ago perhaps more - the ID probably by @coryman, but I can't recall if the location checks out.

Hi Jools,
I'll send you the paper, unfortunately rather short and no pics.
Here you can find some more pics: Corydoras spilurus. The pics above are real C. spilurus from Approuague, below are IMHO the same C. aff. spilurus as on the species page here.

Re: Corydora spilurus
Hi,
meanwhile Ian has issued CW138 for the "fake" C. spilurus.
So you know where to put the pics...

Re: Corydora spilurus
Yes, making the changes. BTW, where did you find pictures of C. spilurus' lectotype?

Re: Corydora spilurus
Thanks, Mark's given me permission to use the images - so I think the cat-elog is now updated in line with the suggested changes.
