BFD and NEC March 2018

Post by Shane »

Jools will be at the Big Fish Deal 2-4 March 2018 in Rockville Maryland.

http://thebigfishdeal.com/#/events/speakers

I will be at the NEC in Rocky Hill, Connecticut 16-18 March.

Great opportunity to catch Jools in the U.S. and likely my last U.S. speaking engagement for a few years.

Please post if you are coming to either event so we can be sure to meet.

Trying to find out if Jools made it given weather conditions.

Made it! Just. Only two flight outs of Edinburgh and it is closed today. Our 0900 flight left at 12:30, the airfield looked like Siberia. So, we missed our connecting flight in Newark, rebooked and eventually got into the hotel about 3 am our time. Back home our kids, my brother and Mum are snowed in well. They appear to have enough candy to last until Christmas, so all good.

Top American breakfast and all is well with the world - working on my talks and looking forward to meeting and seeing everyone again. Sorry for bringing the crap weather!

I really wanted to make it down there to say "Hi, Jools.

But,
I am old and tired.
We have a big storm here in NY too and the roads are bad. (I also have to clear our large driveway.)
I am trying to get ready for the NEC in 13 days.
My fish were ticked because I missed most of last weekend's water changes (due to illness) and they threatened to move out if I did not get to them this weekend.

@Jools
You should stay in the states for 2 weeks and come visit the NEC Mar 16-18.

A crazy weekend. We lost power Friday morning as we left for the BFD and it just came back on this morning (Monday). Returned from the BFD Sunday and the Linders and Dignalls had to split firewood in the forest as the house was 44F. Spent the evening wrapped in blankets around the fireplace. In a few minutes Jools and I'll tackle the fishroom to see how many fish survived.

About 25% losses, which is amazing considering that there was no filtration for three days and temps fell to 44F.
