Can L205 crossbreed with L015

Hi,

Can these two crossbreed being that they are both peckoltia species.

Possibly. I'm not aware if anyone has experienced this specific combination (did you search the discussion forums here?), but if you have a mixed sex group and each species can't find a mate of its own kind in the tank, the probability of hybridization increases.

Can you split your new fish into separate tanks?

Hi again eric,

I will search the discussions and see if i can find anything.
I also posted about this in "what is my catfish page".

I bought 32 fish all supposed to be L015, after looking at them properly today i see that 16 of them (the smaller ones) have defects. Kinked fins, missing fins and growths.
Also i now look at the adults and there seems to be 3 different species. I think 015, 205 and a unknown one.
Maybe they were kept together and were cross bred creating these problems.

I bought them online and they were sent via airmail and i didn't see all properly until they arrived, i showed to much trust i think and of coarse i'm not happy about it at all.

I will try and make some room in the next few days to separate the adults to stop this happening again.
