Zamora or Blue confusion

Post by IndefactorX »

I'm as dumb as the come when it comes to catfish, although i am an overall fish enthusiast, i have had a recent problem identifying this fish.
i just bought two, what i thought were to be, zamora catfish from a local pet store, then later that week i went to buy a blue channel catfish and when i brought it home i noticed that these two fish looked EXACTLY alike which leads me to believe that they sold me the wrong fish either the first time or the second time.. I need to figure out if this is a Blue Catfish, or a Zamora catfish... Please help me figure this out

YAY, that means i can go back and rip off petco some more, this means i have blue channel cats for the price of the cheaper zamora's :P

i really love my catfish, but i think they ate one of my other fish, i had 2 striped danio's and one dissapeared all of a sudden :) and one of the catfish got just a bit fatter so... anyway
you can expect to see me in here alot more, first time visitor**

Those blue channels get really big and will eat anything that fits in its mouth. I know from experience.

I'd actually go w/ the Zamoras, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

YUP! channelcats are hungry :P :P :P

I have kept Zamora's in the past, and although very shy, they're great, very peaceful and it's one of those species that gets more and more beautiful as it matures.
In my tank they reached 5"; I believe they can reach 6-7 or so.

A channelcat can reach 6 foot (!)

a while ago someone tried to sell me a European Wels, it was a foot and a half and very beautiful....too bad I haven't got a pond.

If you want to keep the Blue Channelcats; you'd better start digging!
