Guys But in your reproductive groups of hypancistrus and peckoltia have you noticed some sort of reproductive attitude in which one male prevails over the others? I speak mainly of large groups.
In my peckoltias reproductive group (5 male and 5 female) I have noticed a strong predisposition to always mate with the same male of all the females. The other 4 males in the group are not noticed by the females.
What do you think?

I've seen that with my Dekeyseria picta L052. I have about 10 adults who have spawned over a dozen times, and all but two spawns were by the same male I suspect.

@bekateen What do you think about dividing the aquarium with woods and plants? could it induce females to mate with other males as well?

Agree, with my experience with Hypancistrus and Panaqolus, generally, the best thing appears to be to remove the male as they'll get "overused". Females will then spawn with the next best male. This did result eventually in several tanks with pairs in each - plenty fry! I think that in nature they are much more spread out, so you would need a large tank to have any chance of nature taking its course and balancing the male's "workload".

Following Jools´will have furhter the advantage of getting offspring from more males, and thus having a broader gene-pool in the next generation.

I also agree with Jools. My tank with L052 is very broken up with rocks and this species isn't very territorial in my tank, but still mainly one male spawns.
