Hi Bebefinn. Welcome to PlanetCatfish!

I believe that fish gets sold as , although the ID is questionable. It's sometimes listed as T. cf. aulopygia (as you see in the book) to reflect the uncertainty. Local retailers, if I recall, sell it at , but again the ID is questionable.

Are you still in Iquitos? I'm planning to visit next week!

Cheers, Eric

Still here for another week! These guys are in with what I believe to be T. Gyrina and t. Brunnea but I wanted to double check if my ID for these guys was good since I’m hoping to take some home. While you’re here you should visit ARCOF and their aquarium. Its small but its the best aquarium in south america imo. Dr Anthony Mazeroll knows a lot, though I’m not sure how much about catfish specifically. Pretty cool place.

is another name that gets used by the exporters. I don't think they know what it really is, since none of the three species mentioned (besides , which it's not that) are described from the Iquitos area originally.

LOL, I'll be working at ARCOF! Yes it is a really nice place. :d Are you staying there?
