Asian bumblee catfish eating my neons
Hey al - I usually only keep fish of hte callicthyidae family - currently have 2 Dianema urostriata, 2 hoplos (1 m 1 f) and heaps of other corys and brochis.
I went to my lfs the other day and saw a black lancer and an asian bb catfish. I keep them in my 3ft tank..with 12 neons, 3 rose tetras and 2 pacific blue-eyes.
However, few days later, i noticed that the 12 neons gradually become 6 - with about 1-2 disappearing each night. researched abt the the new fish..adn found that asian bb eat small fish...problem is, mine is onli 7cm long, so thought that it'd be safe with the neons.
So question is - will the black lancer (8cm) eat neons as well? for safe measure, i've removed the neons into my 2ft tank - and transfered all the smaller corys into there as well.
P:S:So right now the 3ft tank has 2 dianemas, 2 hoplos, 2 brochis and 2 Corydoras robinae. I left the bigger fish in the 3ft with black lancer and asian bb catfish.

I still find it very weird you people all describe the Black Lancer as a peaceful, harmless fish; when it obviously isn't.
my cousin bought three juvies again, and put them in his kids' tank, despite me repeating his own warnings from about a decade ago.
Within a week, those 3" BL's had destroyed most of the livebearers in there (platy's, guppies) and started to wreak havoc on resting Centromochlus perugiae.....
Now They're in the 720 liter tank, with adult Ghostfish, Methynnis and 8" Botia macracantha where they can do far less harm.
IMO the Black Lancer is a true Bagrid, wich has all the behaviourisms of one, such as Pseudomystus or Mystus.....just bigger, since they easily reach 8" or more, wich is bigger than your run-off-the-mill Pseudomystus siamensis.

Thanks for the replies guys!!!
I've transfered all my smaller corys and neons and other tetras into my 2ft tank. I've left the dianemas, hoplos, brochis and c. robinae in there...because they all have scutes(armour) and plus sharp fin spines so they're more than able to defend themselves.
I've added another smaller asian bb catfish...i thought 'might as well' coz there aren't any more fish in danger..so added more interesting ones in the tank. They all get along fine now...now looking for an elephantnose for my other tank
