Looks like a Liposarcus. Do you have a picture of the fish with its dorsal fin raised?

No, its my sisters Plec and she would like to know what it is! She has had it two years and its grown from about 2 inches to 5-6!!! Ill see if i can get one in the near future but I have to go to her house to get one... any other ideas?

Well, the irregular pattern suggests it's a possible hybrid between Liposarcus ambrosetti & L. pardalis. I see medium to large common plecos that are store trade-ins quite regularly and I often see fish with patterns that don't really fit either species.

Since florida farmers aren't concerned with the exact species they're putting out, any number of types could be in the same breeding pond. So it's pretty likely that this is the fish's origins.

And tell her to get that poor thing a bigger tank! It should be far larger than that at 2 years old...hehe
