Im not sure which forum to post this in, so apologies if its the wrong one...
I have, amongst other fish, 3 Corydoras agassizii, 1 Zebra plec and 1 L134 in a bogwood and plant community tank.
For some months now i havent seen the plecs or much of the corys until the lights go out, or they tend to stay near their own hideyholes. But a few days ago i removed the corys to another tank and within a few hours both plecs were in full view in an open sandy area of the tank with the lights on and not moving when i approached...Im glad i moved them now as i see much more of the plecs, but...
...i was wondering; While the corys were hiding away during the day, were they convincing the plecs that danger was about and thats why they stayed hidden? and their abscence now signifies no danger? But that kinda goes against the 'dither' fish theory doesnt it?
I know they are all S.American species but do they live side by side in their natural habitat?
Has anyone else experienced this? Or got any other theories?
