Girl or Boy Corydoras?

Post by silvernes »

While it has become a great subject of debate among everyone I know to ask, I would appreciate any help any of you can offer in determining the gender of my albino corydoras. I have only had them for 3 weeks, but they have all reached allittle over 2" long now and have been vigourusly displaying all corydora mating rituals (cleaning the glass, following each other around...). I did try to spawn them a few days ago with cold water changes (and a tropical rainforest dance) when it was suggested to me that I might actually have 3 males. Since then I have moved all these cory back to my community betta-female tank because they seem to have a calming effect and reduce the females fighting (mostly because they love watching my cory and even immitate them - which makes me very dizzy watching them all). Anyway, if anyone has any idea what I've got I'd love to hear it :D Sorry for the picture, but as well all know: cory don't like sitting still while you try to snap their pictures.

Nes,

from what I can see your three albinos are all females. Males are slimmer bodied.

I'm thinking that part of the problem is that they aren't fully matured yet, but I can see now that they are looking very fat indeed :)

Just because we love my cory... ANOTHER UPDATE!!! YEAH!!! These little guys continue to amaze me, I've now managed to corner a few juvenile corydoras which I hope to grow very quickly so I can soon have some babies of my own. Watching them all dart back and forth from the bottom to the top of the tank in syncronis, especially late at night when the lights are low, I've now become a cory-pimp... :D
