What Syno sp.?
Hi,
About a month ago I found this syno at a fish shop that I went to.

I had never seen a syno like it, so I bought one (we don't have a great selection). It was labled as a Feather Fin and I payed just under $NZ40 (about $US20).
There was also another tank with synos labled as FF which were a diffrent price. These ones looked like regular juvenile FF.
Does anyone know what my syno is?
Cheers, CatBrat.

Including that Synodontis "zebrinus" that some people claim is a real fish, yet totally looks like an S. eupterus hybrid... Kind of like that fool who -developed- the blue jack dempsey by crossing w/ Nandopsis (Cichlasoma) tetracanthus and claims he "discovered" it, lol
Fortunately the only instance I've seen of these Czech hybrids in the US is that guy on aquabid.com claiming they're S. ornatapinnis (not his fault as I'm sure he was duped himself), While those of you in NZ may not be so lucky. Just don't go discounting it quite yet, Heok Hee's right so give it a few months to be sure.

I have one of these suspect sp(5) hybrids and TBH it has nothing at all in common with S.Eupters.
S.angelicus crossed with S.ornatipinnis or S.koensis would be more fitting to this Syno..

Well Delbod...unless the pic of the adult in the E-log is not your fish, I don't know how anyone couldn't see the S.eupterus in it. Even the juveniles have a vague resemblance to eupterus. I was feeling the same way about S.angelicus as you do about them, I honestly can't make out any similarities to angelicus in the adult at all. Save for the young appearing like an angelicus/eupterus or angelicus/ornatipinnis hybrid.
I'm not saying that any of these fish can't be part of it's genetic makeup (including S.koensis), just wondering why I'm apparently the only person seeing the S.eupterus in it...that's all.

Cripes....disregard (or remove) both of my replies in this matter.
Seems my original reply to this thread was meant for another Syno in question that was posted around the same time, shame on me! There I am explaining the wrong fish to Delbod, and yes it does look like an angelicus/ornatapinnis hybrid..now that I look at the actual fish in question.
So forgive my absent-mindedness please..
Admin: take any appropriate actions....lol
