Powerheads and UGF's

Powerheads and UGF's

I currently have both my power heads in both the tubes of the UGF - this means I cannot get any bubbles coming from them. I just want to know if its feasible to just use 1 power head on one side of the UGF with an airstone on the other side. Then I could use the spare powerhead next to my internal filter to add more water movement and oxygen.

p.s. if you have a free standing powerhead (attached to the glass) how do you stop fishes getting stuck to the intake of the powerhead ?
