Unkown Pleco
Unkown Pleco
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a couple of pleco's from my local fish shop one was labled as an "orange spot catfish" (very helpful hey!). i asked the one of the chaps who works there what it was and he said he'd never seen one before they got the shipment in, he's usually very knowledgable as he is a private importer, he's in mexico at the mo!
Anyway the fish is about 1 1/2" long, very dark almost black body with yellow-orange spots, similar to the gold nugget plec but with fewer, slightly larger spots.
The other Pleco was labled as a "butterfly plec" but having looked at the cat-elog i can deffinately say he isn't one of them! He looks like a flatfish in that his side fins form two overlaping circles, he's about 1 1/2" long and a mottled grey colour. His mouth is more of an upturned u shape than the "normal" pleco O.
I'll try to get a picture of them as soon as i can but my camera isn't very good at close-ups.
Cheers everyone.
Jon.
