Ive been browsing this site for about a month but this is my first post. Ive got 4 tanks right now(2 55 gal, one 10 gal., and a 46 bowfront.) They are all stocked with cichlids and a few plecos(mostly common.) The opportunity to purchse a 76 gallon bowfront for cheap just popped up and Id actually like to stock it with plecos and cats only. I have no idea how this would work out and havent heard anyone just stocking a tank with plecs only although Im sure its been done several times. Id just like some personal experience from people who have done this. Ill be ordering my fish from the net as its impossible to find any interesting anywhere around my area, and Id definitely like my tank to be stocked with exotic looking plecs(royal, zebra, etc..) Approx how many species is alright for a 76? And how many per species? Not too mention I need to pick out smaller plecs as 76 isnt enough for many larger plecs. One of my major problems with the other tanks is that the ph comes out of the tap around 9.0 and after tank buffereing only comes down to 8.4, this has worked out good for most of my african cichlids, but I did notice it took well over a month for most of the added plecs to get used to the water......
