Need help, but bad picture

Post by Woland »

In the LFS it was named "Catfish"...
That gives you a clue, or?

Approcx 3cm long.
Wavy motion pattern.
The Ancistrus hates them bitterly...

Thanx mate.
It seems to be correct.

I'll move the small creatures over to an asian bio.
Mayhap found an Asian alternative for Corys?

They're not as active as corys, though.

I'm currently trying to establish a rainforest bio ala' Sumatra.
The main attraction is he&she Carinotetraodon irrubesco (red-tailed red-eye puffers).

Other inhabitants is 8 Sumatra Barbs, 5 SAE and 6 Corys.
Would like to replace the Corys as cleaning-crew however useful they are.
Any suggestions?

Hara are Indian catfish, so they would seem as out-of-place as the corys in a Sumatran biotope.

You will probably have much better luck with (though they may not be the kind of fish you'd want to share a tank with Carinotetraodon).

Other cats to consider:

The puffers will hassle the sedentary H. jerdoni to no end, de-finning them in short order. I made the mistake of keeping C. travancoricus w/ a few jerdoni and most were missing their tails days after being introduced to the tank.

hi

these have been coming into the uk for a couple of years now they first came in as rock cats..
these fish are more usually called moth cats.. the fish in your picture is similar to the ones i have been breeding over the last two years. apparently they meet the requirments of hara hara.
however. i am not sure weither they are hara hara or maybe hara maesotensis as described by kottelat in the 1980's.. my fish like water temps around 20 or 21 mark . the water is around 6.8ph
usuall if the water conditions become to bad for them the seem to shed their skins. i feed mine on grindal worm and sifted daphnia amongst other things , they will feed during daylight but seem more active at dusk. my biggest specimen measures around 30mm
tank mates i use to no adverse effect are rasbora hengeli and brachydanio kerri.
