How do common Plecos have sex?

Post by PlecoRising »

This morning I turned on my aquarium light to see my friendly, larger pleco nuzzling my smaller, very agressive plec. It was very surprising to see since the bigger one usually avoids the smaller at all costs.
Do plecos have sex like dolphins do, writhing around? Or does the female lay eggs and then have the male shoot/spew cum all over the eggs? My plecos don't have any private area to lay eggs if they did. Perhaps the one is feeling randy?? Any explanation would be appreciated, thanks.

Doesnt sound like a proper setup to me...

But you do know that dolphins arent fish? Maybe you wonna buy a basic biology book to have a start.

I'm pleased you're amused when someone here is belittled.

I would definitely have to agree that this thread has outlived it's usefulness. While we do recommend that people do some research through the hundreds of informative articles here on the site and in the catelog, it is never a good idea to do it in such a manner that can potentially make the person asking questions feel unwelcome.
