Steve,
To the best of my knowledge, L-204 have yet to be spawning in an aquarium. They are a Panaque species so may need a strong seasonal change to encourage them to spawn(per current theories online anyways!). That certainly shouldn't discourage you from trying though.

According to a TFH article not too long ago Leporacanthicus galaxias have been spawned recently, as have L-264 and L-263s (both Leporacanthicus species) in central Ohio.

*(BTW: I'll introduce you to the local breeder at the OCA Extravaganza)

Hypancistrus spp. tend to be easier fishes to work with (IE: L-46, L-260, L-66, L-333). You find many more articles documenting successes with these fish than those your list.

Check the Shane's World listing for reproduction articles.

Okay... Im goin to try like hell either way to get them to spawn... I also need some 304's but those will come later... Anyone have suggestions for the L7's?? What size tank should they be in first off... The 204's arent big enough to spawn yet, hardly sexable at best so im not worried about those yet. I have a pair of albino BN's ready to go in about 2-3 months too... ill call ya tonight probably paul.

Thanks!

I have a young trio (1.2) of Leporacanthicus galaxias at the moment in a 30 breeder (36"L x 16"W x 12"H) but they are a bit small yet. The male is ~6" long, the females 4" and 5" respectively.

Basically I am keeping them fairly warm (82-86F) with lot's of current, lot's of caves, lot's of water changes and lot's of meaty foods. They'll likely get moved out to a community tank (75 or 125) before too long as I have other fish I want to work more intently with in this tank. IE: L-333s!

This is a friends L.galaxias that spawn regulary, the pair is around 15 cm (6") TL. I have not measure the tank but it's not so big...between 120-150 L and with a slight current. The water parameters are pH 7,0-7,3 temp ~28 C and conductivity around 300 µS which are the same as the tapwater, the only thing he do is regulary water changes.
They got mature and spawn the first time when they was around 12 cm (5") and gave around 45 fry in the first batch but now they give around 70-80 fry each time.
The fry are left with the parents and when I took the pictures of them there was 3 generations going with them, 2 outside the cave and 1 new together with the male in the cave...staplefood is Hikari algwafers.

I have not tryed this species by my self yet but I have bought recently a group of them and will give them a try.
