Type Locality	Mun River at Ban Dan, Khong Chiam District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, Thailand, 15°18'N, 105°31'E, depth to 4 meters.
Pronunciation	Ham mee see loo russ - me kong en siss
Etymology	From the Greek hemi- meaning half and Silurus, the word for catfish.

Size	800mm or 31.5" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification	Wide fringed membranous maxillary barbel in females; a single patch of vomerine teeth; pectoral-fin spine thin and smooth in females and thin with weak serrations in males. Posterior nostril above and behind eye.
General Remarks	Fishbase lists 800 mm TL.
